Resorts have strict check-in requirements designed to protect owners, guests, and their reservation systems. These requirements must be followed exactly, and RedWeek cannot override them. This policy outlines what is required to check in, who is eligible, and how resorts validate guest identity.
Primary Guest Requirements
The person listed as the primary guest on the reservation must:
- Be the person who checks in
- Present a government-issued photo ID
- Meet the resort’s minimum age requirement (usually 21–25)
- Provide a valid credit or debit card for deposits and incidentals
The name on the ID must match the reservation exactly. If the names do not match, the resort may deny check-in.
Age Requirements
Most resorts require the primary guest to meet a minimum age. This age varies by resort:
- Standard minimum: 21+
- Some locations: 25+
- Certain vacation clubs may have additional restrictions
These requirements apply even if the reservation was booked for someone else. Resorts will not waive age policies.
Identification & Verification
The resort may ask for:
- A matching government-issued ID
- A credit or debit card in the primary guest’s name
- Guest certificates (for certain vacation clubs)
- Confirmation of contact information or address
If your ID has changed (legal name change, expired ID, etc.), notify RedWeek immediately so we can request an update before the check-in deadline. Updates are not guaranteed.
Guest Eligibility
The primary guest must:
- Be the intended traveler
- Be eligible to enter into a resort contract (deposit authorization, compliance with resort rules)
- Not be attempting to substitute or transfer the stay to another person
The following are not allowed:
- Transferring the reservation to another traveler
- Listing someone as the guest who will not be present at check-in
- Attempting check-in with a name not on the reservation
- Misrepresenting guest identity
Resorts use identity verification to prevent fraud and protect owners.
Additional Guests
Some resorts require guest certificates or full occupancy lists. Requirements vary:
- Some allow only the primary guest to be listed
- Others require names of all adult guests before arrival
- Vacation clubs may require a paid guest certificate
If the resort requests additional information, RedWeek will contact you.
Security Deposits & Holds
Most resorts place a temporary hold for incidentals or security deposits. Deposits:
- Are collected at the resort, not by RedWeek
- Are released according to the resort’s policy and timeline
- May not be paid with prepaid or virtual cards
Check-In Time & Early Arrival
Each resort sets its own check-in and check-out times. Early check-in is never guaranteed. If the unit is not ready early, the resort may hold luggage or allow amenity access until your unit is available.
Failure to Meet Check-In Requirements
If the primary guest:
- Does not meet the age requirement
- Cannot provide proper ID
- Cannot provide a valid credit/debit card
- Does not match the reservation name
The resort may refuse entry with no refund. These requirements are enforced by the resort, not by RedWeek.
Summary
To ensure a smooth check-in, renters must:
- Use their full legal name when booking
- Meet all ID and age requirements
- Bring a valid credit or debit card
- Follow all resort rules and requests for information
These policies protect both the owner and the renter and are non-negotiable once the reservation is confirmed.
